Wessex Archaeology is one of the largest archaeological teams in the country. An independent organisation and non profit-making body, it is able to offer a wide range of services. Wessex Archaeology aims to provide a high quality archaeological service to those needing expert assistance in the study of the past; to promote the conservation of ancient sites and landscapes; to be a centre of excellence for archaeological, historical, and palaeoenvironmental research; to publish and disseminate the results of relevant research; and to advance through education the public's knowledge and appreciation of their archaeological heritage.
