Portable Document Format (PDF)

The document is available in Adobe Acrobat's Portable Document Format (PDF).

[PDFPDF documents are commonly identified by the use of the symbol on the left.

To view such documents you need to use a PDF file viewer such as Acrobat Reader or Acrobat Exchange from Adobe Systems Incorporated. You should be aware that documents held in this format are typically much larger than simple text files. If you are connected via a slow modem over a telephone line, you should consider the likely download time before attempting to retrieve such documents. In order to help you decide, we have given the size of the PDF file alongside its description.

Acrobat Reader is now available at no charge from Adobe Systems' World-Wide Web Site.

Because Adobe Systems' ftp server can get very busy at certain times of the day, The Open Government WWW site have an agreement with Adobe that they can redistribute the reader from the Open Government local ftp server at ftp.open.gov.uk where the file may be found in the directory /pub/programs/adobe. The Windows file is called acroread.exe and for the Macintosh it is AcroRead.mac.hqx. Adobe's Web site also has information on how to configure your Web Browser to automatically launch an Acrobat viewer as a "helper application".
