4.19.4 Coastal archaeology

As described in detail in Section 4.4, our concern for the coastal heritage has led to sponsorship of various projects, surveys, and publications. England's coastal heritage was published jointly with the RCHME and has had considerable impact during 1997-98. During 1997 98 English Heritage has given further thought to the means by which coastal survey should be taken forward and has commissioned several studies to provide a platform for future survey work. A survey at Wootton-Quarr, Isle of Wight, is to be published in the English Heritage Archaeological Monograph series, and an English Heritage commissioned study by Wessex Archaeology led to the development of An archaeological research framework for the Greater Thames Estuary
