Fraser, R, Jamfrey, C, and Vaughan, J, 1996, Excavation on the Site of the Mansion House, Newcastle, 1990, Archaeologia Aeliana, 23, 145-213
Excavation examined the development of the medieval waterfront of Newcastle upon Tyne. Evidence was found of limited waterfront construction and use in the 13th century with large scale development of the platform beginning in the 14th century, and extending south during the 15th century. The site was redeveloped in the 17th century with a large court-yard building erected behind a new waterfront wall. This building was replaced by the Mansion House in 1691/2.
