Recording and analysis linked to repairs of many of the key industrial structures of the Ironbridge Gorge came to a conclusion during the year, yielding substantial new insights. The Upper Forge at Coalbrookdale, for example, revealed a complex structural sequence related to the use of the ill-fated stamping-and-potting technique for wrought iron production. The building was later adapted for use as a stables and grist mill for the Coalbrookdale Company, and after many years of decline has found new life as an educational resource centre for the many parties of school children who come to the Gorge.
