In 1996 EH purchased this crystalline villa built by Robert Taylor in the 1760s and is currently restoring the exterior and principal floor interiors on the basis of their eighteenth-century appearance. The necessary fabric research, recording, and analysis, including paint analysis, has been carried out EH staff. The main building contract is due for completion in 1997 and a new owner is actively being sought. Detailed research has enabled the reinstatement and restoration of masonry, plaster, and joinery features, and a return to the original paint scheme (see also section 4.14).
